My first ever blog on the first day of this year started out by saying, “I hate bloggers.”’ That’s cold, isn’t it? But that’s how a uniformed guy talks when he knows nothing about what he’s expressing an uninformed opinion about. It’s something you hear every day in the political arena; people making statements about things they are uninformed or ill-advised about.
I want to learn to be a good writer. I want to make my novels readable, hopefully enjoyable. Blogging is a daily discipline that has forced me to write/work 5 days a week for the past 6 months. Today is my 151st blog. I never know what I’m going to write about from one day to the next. I only know I don’t want to talk about politics and religion. I just know I’m a mouthy retired guy who needs to talk a lot and found that writing touches a part of my brain that stores old memories and emotions. I like sharing old memories and emotions.
The wonderful surprises I’ve received from this discipline-exercise was discovering the world of blogging; the blogosphere. The whole damn world is blogging; 50,000 new blogs every week. I have made friends from other countries, new cultures and seen incredible art, photos and writing. I now spend additional time every day reading and replying to fellow bloggers and friends.
With the insanity going on in this 21st century, I find fellow bloggers are creating their own culture, their own world. I want to have a 21st. century discussion later this week, but right now I just want to thank everyone who has taken time to read and write and make the blogging world quite special.
I’m switching my posts to 3 days a week, Mon/Wed/Fri. I hope you will keep tuning in. I would like to leave you with your new blues name today. Most of you know I’m a blues musician but a lot of you don’t know my “true” blues name. It’s “Old Gumbo Lee.” What’s yours? Find out below and let me know.
