As soon as I wrote that title my mouth started watering. I love hot spicy sausage, BUT that’s not what the title means. We’re in an age of technical jargon and I want to talk about some interesting internet “links that I think are HOT.
I’m quite interested in the brain, our minds and our thought processes.
I like to read the latest studies in theoretical physics, psychology, and philosophy. Books don’t make me smarter but give me knowledge I didn’t have before; how I use that knowledge determines if I grow smarter or not. Recent books I finished are “Physics of the Future” by Michio Kaku (How science will shape Human Destiny and our Daily Lives by the year 2100). I also finished “Subliminal” by Leonard Mlodinow (How Your Unconscious Mind Rules Your Behavior). A very interesting book I’m half way through is “The Righteous Mind” by Jonathan Haidt (Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Religion). I recommend them for a good read, especially “The Righteous Mind.”
But, as I stated above, reading books don’t help you remember better, concentrate with more focus, be more efficient in your thinking, thinking out of the box, thinking fast on your feet or being flexible in your thinking.
I have a great place (Hot Link) for you to visit if you want to improve your brain through a training program. Check out the “Luminosity” site and have fun: http://www.lumosity.com/
This next Hot Link is for those of you who like wasting time and still blowing your mind. Let me explain. Most of us (I know I’m a little weird) don’t sit around and think about the number of ships running around the deep blue seas.
I think a real-time look would amaze you. Here’s a link to the actual real-time picture of all the ships in the whole world and exactly where they are right now. http://marinetraffic.com/ais/default.aspx?centerx=30¢ery=25&zoom=2&level1=140
By now you have wasted at least an hour or two so here’s one last “hot link” that will definitely not make you smarter. http://v.theonion.com/onionmedia/videos/articles/article/29797/OSR304-delivery_mov_podcast.mp4
Thanks for listening…have a nice week.
