More Jobs Eliminated

Back in the day, a guy could make some good bucks being a drug mule. Not necessarily crossing dangerous international borders, but being an in-be-tweener. Carrying the drugs from “the man” across town to one of “the man’s” distributors can be dangerous but also lucrative.

I’m not sure what you would charge to carry, say…six bags of meth from one side of town to the other, but I bet it would be plenty. You run the risk of getting caught and going to prison. You run the risk of getting robbed and even getting shot and killed.

So we agree the job has to be a damn-good paying gig.

And now, just as you’re getting good at your job, the job is eliminated.

Once again technology is stealing good-paying jobs.

I can almost hear the famous words:

Able to Leap Tall Buildings with a Single Bound

Look! Up in the Sky! It’s a Bird! It’s a Plane!

NO….It’s METH-DRONE!

meth+drone+41

That’s right…already in Tijuana, the drug lords are replacing their couriers with drones. Unfortunately the drones aren’t always as strong as you…not you, but the drug mules.

And they crash to the ground.

Boys, boys, boys…don’t be so greedy. Next time just load 5 bags.

  1. By using the drones, they’re hoping to eliminate product loss due to human error and greed. But when the drone crashes, they lose their product anyway. Technology in a nutshell. No matter the system you choose, whether it’s human mules or drones, that system will have its problems.

Still, I prefer tech-related issues to human ones. It seems easier to control the variables. Then again, that’s probably just a reflection of the time I was born in, huh?

  2. Robert D. Levinson says:

There will always be counter technologies. Radar and sonar were developed during WWII to counter air and sub warfare. Defensive drones to seek out meth carrying drones. The cartel are a wiling lot though and as long as there is the demand…
