Ridiculous Schedules

The “schedules” I’m talking about is called the “Schedules of Controlled Substances.”
It is the statute that established a Federal Drug Policy. It was part of the law signed by President Nixon in 1970.

The law is called “Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970.” It was meant to bring all the existing federal laws of narcotic and dangerous drug problems into a single new statute.

Many of the recommendations of the various committees and panels were ignored. What was left is basically what we got now. A few things, like the date-rape drug, were added throughout the past 46 years.

Have you ever looked at this thing? It is a stupid schedule filled with ignorance about the various drugs listed. Many in Congress know this, but most in Congress, like the law, are stupid and ignorant. So, changes that should be made aren’t made.

There are FIVE different schedules or categories of drugs listed.

Schedule 5
These substances are supposedly the lowest potential for abuse or dependence. Mainly used for antidiarrheal, antitussive and analgesic purposes. In other words stop the runs, stop the coughing, relieve a little pain.
These are drugs like low codeine cough medicine (Robitussin AC), Lomotil, Motofen, Lyrica and others. Every one of these has warnings that if overused or mixed with the wrong drugs can cause serious side effects and if you’re really stupid it will kill you.

Schedule 4
Low risk of dependence and/or abuse.
Drugs in this category are Valium, Ativan, Ambien, Tramadol, Darvon, Darvocet, Xanax, etc.
Of course you don’t know anybody who abuses, overuses or has to have these puppies.  Low risk of dependence. HAH!
Millions of people have gone off Xanax and had seizures. Millions of people who have used Xanax, have constipation, weight gain, skin rash, difficulty in micturition, ataxia, weight loss, dysarthria, memory impairment, cognitive dysfunction, drowsiness, fatigue, diarrhea, blurred vision, insomnia, anxiety, decreased libido, increased appetite, and decreased appetite.
Doctors will give these to you like candy. Just tell them you can’t sleep.

Schedule 3
These drugs have moderate risk of physical and psychological dependence. Some of these are: testosterone, anabolic steroids, ketamine, Tylenol with codeine. Too many abuses to even write about. However the strangest abuse is the Tylenol. Almost impossible to get a decent “high” from the codeine, but too many doses of the acetaminophen will ruin a liver quickly. As far as steroids, many athletes are being falsely accused of using anabolic steroids. Like this poor 23 year old Russian female weightlifter below:
Russian weighlifter

Schedule 2

Now things get real crazy. We are getting into the very dangerous drugs with high potential for abuse. Potential severe psychological and physical dependence is almost assured. Very dangerous stuff. And don’t forget, the bad bad bad Schedule 1 drugs are next.
Schedule 2 drugs are:
OxyContin, Dexedrine, Adderall, Ritalin, Fentanyl, Demerol, Methadone, Cocaine Methamphetamine. Most of these drugs are available with a prescription.

Schedule 1

No, No! Not available with a prescription because no accepted medical use. High potential for abuse. Sever dependency. These are the drugs that get you put in prison forever or longer.
Heroin, Marijuana, Peyote, LSD, Methaqualone, Ecstasy

Are you noticing anything yet? Notice how the drugs that make you feel good, maybe get you high are on the horrible list.

FYI: Since the world was created there has not been ONE person who died overdosing on Marijuana.

Let’s look at something.
Schedule 2 drug called Fentanyl. It just killed Prince. It has killed many others. It is 50 times stronger than heroin. That’s FIFTY! An amount the size of THREE GRAINS OF SUGAR is lethal to most adults.
Another popular #2 schedule drug is OXY, the most abused over used drug in America. The drug of choice for rich folks, like Rush. The lucrative drug of crooks.Very dangerous and one needs increased dosage to get the same relief, physically or mentally, that one needs.
In 2014, there were 14,000 people who died just from Oxy. (8000 died from Heroin)
drug overdose

Looking at Schedule 1 Drugs:
Heroin is bad, physically and psychologically, no one would argue with that.
Peyote, marijuana, LSD and Ecstasy are not physically addictive drugs.

Ecstasy can be psychologically addictive and very dangerous to abuse. We are not telling our young friends, who love to dance and screw the night away, the truth about what this man-made drug does. It forces the brain to overload on serotonin. That’s very cool, because rushes of serotonin will produce high levels of energy and increased sexual feelings. Unfortunately when the brain loses its serotonin, heavy depression usually happens. And keeps happening, maybe forever because serotonin doesn’t like to be used up.

And then we get to marijuana, a substance that the government has been lying to Americans about for over seventy five years. It isn’t harmful, it isn’t addictive, and it has already proven to have many medical benefits. Benefit for Cancer patients, incredibly effective in fighting Glaucoma, high blood pressure, controlling epileptic seizures, decreases anxiety, slows progression of Alzheimer’s, and recent tests have confirmed that  cannabis can reverse the carcinogenic effect of tobacco and can improve damaged lungs.

YET…Congress still keeps it on the Schedule 1 list of bad bad stuff. Why? Right there with heroin and way ahead of Oxy, Fentanyl, and Cocaine, all very dangerous addictive drugs. Why?

If we go back to 1970 and look at the bill that Richard Nixon signed we find there was also a section of that bill called PART F…this was a National Commission on Marijuana and Drug Abuse. The commission was called the Shafer Commission because Raymond Shafer was the chairman. Mr. Shafer, in 1970 (46 years ago) gave this report which Nixon and Congress ignored.

Shafer concluded that “Marijuana in small amounts should be decriminalized because criminal law is too harsh a tool to apply to personal possession even in the effort to discourage use. It implies an overwhelming indictment of the behavior which we believe is not appropriate. The actual and potential harm of use of the drug is not great enough to justify intrusion by the criminal law into private behavior, a step which our society takes only with the greatest reluctance.”

Yes, we’ve always known, as least people who have studied this, that marijuana is not harmful, but helpful. The word “marijuana” didn’t even exist until the 1920s. Cannabis, the correct term, was used in many helpful medicinal mixtures. Bristol Meyer’s Squibb and Eli Lily used cannabis in their medicines. Medicines that actually worked to cure various ailments.

Also during this time, elite Americans, copying literary celebrities like Alexander Dumas, began experimenting with smoking cannabis. It was expensive to import. During the Mexican Revolution, 890,000 Mexicans LEGALLY immigrated to the USA and brought the cannabis weed with them. It grew everywhere in Mexico and smoking it was common.
In the ‘30s, jazz guys found out they liked smoking cannabis.

IT WAS DURING THE DEPRESSION that, like now when times are bad, Americans always look around for someone to blame. Of course the oligarchs with the power blame the people who are different (Sound familiar?) Yes, it was those damn Mexicans and Blacks who were just sitting around smoking cannabis who needed to be blamed for the depression or at least hated. Better than hating the power-brokers and bankers.
That’s when the word “marijuana” was first used, to give the medicinal cannabis a foreign evil sounding name. It also took people’s minds off of real problems caused by the oligarchs and focused them on the fear of people who looked different…not white.

The racist mean dude that was responsible for the decades of lies about cannabis is
Harry Anslinger, the first director of the newly created Federal Bureau of Narcotics in 1930.
White people were going to movies in droves during the depression. He saw this as the perfect place to warn them about cannabis, or the word he used…marijuana. I will quote Mr. Anslinger.
“Most marijuana smokers are Negroes, Hispanic, Filipinos and entertainers. Their satanic music, jazz and swing, result from marijuana usage. Reefer makes darkies think they’re as good as white men…the primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races.”
drug 2

This ignorant racist bastard was the head of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics for THIRTY TWO YEARS. Also a strong proponent of Prohibition.

Harry Anslinger crafted the propaganda film “Reefer Madness” which after scaring Americans for twenty years has become one of the funniest hours you will ever spend. A great cult film everyone should watch. Search it out on YouTube.

Here is the seriously funny trailer for “Reefer Madness.”
And don’t forget, it was a serious scary movie at the time.

BTW: Two highly addictive drugs, available over the counter, are not on the list.

Alcohol and Nicotine.  I wonder if they kill anybody?
So, soon Marijuana will be joining those two because cannabis finally got lobbyists. That’s all it took, money and lots of people who want the stuff.

I’m personally for two out of the three.

Likewise, cocaine and heroin were once put in children’s medicines – at least until they became associated with poor and brown skinned people. Fine as long as it was just rich white women abusing them…
